“Faf” du Plessis is an international cricketer and former captain of the South Africa national cricket team. He is regarded as the greatest fielder of all time and is among the best batsmen of his era in all formats. He qualified as the most strategic and successful captain in all formats of modern cricket. In 2015, du Plessis became the first South African to score a century in all formats. He was awarded the South African Cricketer of the Year in 2019.

 He is one of the most successful international captains of his era with a win percentage of 73.68 in ODIs. He became the first international captain to defeat Australia in all three formats in the away Test series in 2016 and 2018. In 2016, he became the first and only international captain to defeat Australia by five in a five-match ODI series.

Faf du Plessis was born on 13 July 1984 in Pretoria, Gauteng Province, South Africa and his height is 5 feet 11 inches (1.80 m). 

Parents

     Faf du Plessis’s father’s name is Francois du Plessis. He played rugby and represented the Northern Transvaal as a rugby center in the 1980s.

Early life

  Duplessis played both rugby and cricket very well since childhood Because his father was a professional rugby player. It wasn’t until the age of fifteen that he decided which game he would pursue as a career.  At the age of 16, he decided that he would pursue a career in cricket. He made his club cricket debut with Liverpool Cricket Club and then went on to play in the Nottingham League. He scored 200 runs in the very first match he played for the Nott side and then went on to score three more centuries in the next 3 games. Due to these three centuries, he got an offer to play county for two crores.

Faf Du Plessis’s Education

                  Faf du Plessis (Pretoria, South Africa) studies from Hor Siun Public School in Africa. He obtained his degree from the University of Pretoria.

Domestic cricket

          In the 2008 season, he performed very well in the local Nottinghamshire League for Mansfield Hosiery Mills and in the Lancashire League for Todmorden. Du Plessis then signed a six-month contract with Lancashire County Cricket Club as a full-back player for the 2008 season. After this six-month contract ended, Hon signed a new three-year contract with the club. In March 2010, Du Plessis was no longer allowed to play for Lancashire as a Kolpak player following a change to the Kolpak rules. 

Selection international team

    Du Plessis made his ODI debut against India on 18 January 2011 and was unbeaten on 60 in the first match. He was selected for the 2011 World Cup in the Indian subcontinent and later made his Test debut for South Africa against Australia at the Adelaide Oval in 2012, batting at number 6 and scoring 188 runs. He was awarded the man-of-the-match award for his resilient performance. As a result, the match ended up being a draw.

   Faf du Plessis’s wife is Imary Visser. Imary Vissern is a veteran South African batsman. They were longtime partners and sweethearts. They are getting married in November 2013. They have two children Amelie, who was born in 2017, and Joey, who was born in 2020.
